Proof of concept. Celebrating 25 years of Mario. I programmed it to recognize my motions and passed the virtual button presses to the NES emulator. I could have placed a simulated keypad right in front of me that I can press with my hands, but I thought full body gestures were more in the spirit of Kinect. Of course, Mario isn't designed to be played like this, so this is really really hard. Drivers using OpenKinect, NES emulation using FCEUX.

Multitrack of "Platforms a Plenty" from Super Mario Sunshine on the GameCube (the acapella Mario theme song in the warp/secret levels) This is my first time trying something like this, and despite a couple spots that aren't great, I'm happy with how it turned out. I'm a tenor, so although I was able to hit the high G5 (sitting just above the treble clef) that pops up a couple times, I had to cheat and use some digital magic to get down to the low C2 (a couple lines below the bass cleff). Filmed against my bedroom wall (which has Blik Mario decals on it) with my Canon point and shoot digital camera balanced on my bed (I broke my tripod earlier this year). Based on a MIDI (www.midishrine.com which I learned the parts from.

Through this, I will show you a lot of the secrets of the game, not all of them, but the main ones for sure... I wanted to record this run for all the lovers of this classic!!! My playing isn't perfect, but I think I did a good job with it! I hope you enjoy it! ;) World: 1-1,1-2,1-3,1-4,Fortress. To transform Hammer Brother into a Coin Ship, you have to get (at the end of a Stage) an amount of money with two identical numbers. Examples:11,22,33,44,55,66,77, 88,99. And, you have to break rocks to get your second last score number be the same as the number you got for your coins. Ex: If 99 coins, your score can be 110890 points, and not 110880 points for example. and, you must hit the Cube at the end of the stage when the time is a pair number finishing by:0,2,4,6 or 8. It only works in worlds 1,3,5,6. ;) To get the Secret White Mushroom Shop House to appear, you must get almost if not all coins in World 1-4. Remember the music, since all stages with this music work the same! There is one of those stages per world. (Worlds 1 to 7 included)

Success! Here I achieve the (almost) lowest score possible in Super Mario Bros. for the NES. No save states or slowdown was used, but I did increase the frame skip by quite a bit when waiting at the flag poles. Since you probably don't want to watch that, I cut out almost 8 minutes of video where I'm just running out the clock. I pull off a couple interesting tricks and glitches to make this work. In 4-2, I backwards jump into a few obstacles to scroll the screen without Mario to trick the pipe into taking me to the vine's usual location. In 8-1, I have to perform a pretty precise jump off a goomba to avoid some coins. Also, getting under the first set of 2 coins towards the end of this level takes a very careful jump, and always makes me nervous. In 8-4, I scroll the screen to just the right position to allow me to use some blocks as platforms. No wall jumps are required in this run at all. :) I show off a bit at the start, but after 8-1 I start to take my time. 8-3 is really a tough level. I took a chance to run and jump past a couple hammer bros. towards the end, but the final 2 I took slow. These are close together, so getting by them the careful way proves to be quite challenging. As you can see, there were a lot of hammers to dodge there. Anyway, enjoy!

Hello everyone! 6 months have passed, and I'm finally finished with the remake!! It'll show you some parts of the game, to see whats awaiting you! The graphical effects like the fog/cloud were disabled in this trailer Everything was recorded on an emulator called "no$gba"!! It's glitchy! The ingame levels look much more different with those effects!! The complete hack is based on Super Mario Bros. 3 (Nintendo, 1988/89) That means, all levels from the SMB3 game are converted and added in this one! And the best! All levels have 3 STAR COINS (which are hard, but fair to find in my optinion) and expanded! That means, when a normal level in SMB3 ends, mine will maybe have some more areas or rooms included! So when the pipe was not enterable in the original SMB3, you may enter it in mine :) And my hack has also some levels from different games, like other Mario games or even from Super Metroid (SNES, 1994)! In the first chapter [All-Worlds-Showcase] you will realize that MY world 5 is the ICED world of SMB3! The SMB3 ICED world was in World 6... IT IS NOT A MISTAKE IN MY HACK! I WAS NOT BE ABLE TO CHANGE THE ORIGINAL SMB DATABASE!! :( Feel free to download the patch below: PS: Please remember, don't download this when you don't have the ORIGINAL "New Super Mario Bros. DS" cartridge! You have been warned!
