It's very different to the prototype but it has to be the coolest looking robot solver ever. RuBot II set a new Guinness world Record in Jan 2009. Check out the other videos and the faq at www.mechatrons.com. There are cameras in the eyes of the head that scan the cube before the pneumatic arms solve it. It usually solves the Cube in about 35 seconds (not including the scan) no matter how much it is mixed up. The solving algorithm is taken care of by Herbert Kociemba's Cube Explorer software and usually solves the cube in a maximum of about 20 moves. In this video, the cube wasn't mixed up too hard so RuBot was able to find the optimum solution. Thanks to all of those who think it is too good to be true. That is a real compliment! If you still don't believe it, Look at the other RuBot videos - they have better scrambles. Or better still, call in on one of RuBot's live demonstrations. By the way, that's my daughter in the clip with RuBot. She was just starting to grow her hair long so it does look a little odd. You should see her now.

On April 11, 2009, I went skydiving at Skydive Atlanta. I jumped out at 14000ft and attempted to solve a Rubik's Cube during free fall. Thankfully, I succeeded. This was by far one of the best experiences of my life and I look forward to jumping again. However, I will most likely be jumping without the pressure of solving a Rubik's Cube during my next jump. The solve was around 47 seconds and was a full step Fridrich's method solve (Cross, F2L, Sune, R-Perm(L)). RTR! Speedsolving the Rubik's Cube while freefalling from 4300 meters, sitting in a rubber boat. This is the first attempt and worked really well - I solved the cube in about 31,5 seconds. I started right after exit and was finished at about 2500 meters. At 2300 meters I accidentally slipped out of the boat. The skydive was videotaped by five cameras (two on-board, three outside the boat). Have fun watching and leave your comments! CubeStormer II solves the Rubik's Cube puzzle faster than the human world record. This ARM Powered robot was designed, built and programmed by Mike Dobson and David Gilday, creators respectively of CubeStormer youtu.be and Android Speedcuber youtu.be The mechanics are constructed entirely from LEGO, including four MINDSTORMS NXT kits, with the addition of a Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone running a custom Android app as the robot's brain. Both the MINDSTORMS NXT kits and the Samsung Galaxy SII use a variety of ARM --based processors. The app uses the phone's camera to capture images of each face of the Rubik's Cube which it processes to determine the scrambled colours. The solution is found using an advanced two-phase algorithm, originally developed for Speedcuber, enhanced to be multi-threaded to make effective use of the smartphone's dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 1.2GHz processor. The software finds an efficient solution to the puzzle which is optimised specifically for the capabilities of the four-grip mechanism. The app communicates via Bluetooth with software running on the ARM microprocessors in the LEGO NXT Intelligent Bricks which controls the motors driving the robot. During the physical solve, the app uses OpenGL ES on the phone's ARM Mali-400 MP GPU to display a graphical version of the cube being solved in real time. Human speedcubers' solve times only include the physical manipulation of the cube and don't include some time which is allowed to "inspect" the cube <b>...</b>

Then Watch this clarification video: www.youtube.com You must look on the top layer for corners which have a white color on the side (not top or bottom faces). Once you have found (or corrected using the R T180 Ri), you must match the other adjacent color to white (not on top again, but on the side) with its corresponding color diagonally. Now hold the center of the color that you just matched the white corner diagonally with and the white sticker should either be on the left or right face. Then you must perform the following moves: If white facing left, do Li Ti L (Li = left quarter turn counter-clockwise, L = left quarter turn clockwise), If white facing right, do RT Ri. You must do this for all four corners. IMPORTANT: When fixing corner pieces which have white facing UP,you must place it above the last empty corner space on bottom before doing the R T180 Ri or Li T180 L moves. IMPORTANT: you should NEVER be looking at the white color when you are placing it down, you should always be holding the center piece of the other color on the side with white while placing the corner piece. After you have placed all 4 BOTTOM WHITE CORNERS, you should see upside down COLOR T's on the 4 sides of the cube (not top or bottom). If you do NOT have these T's, that means you DID NOT match the corner pieces properly with its side color BEFORE using the 3 moves (up, towards you, down). Match the color on <b>...</b>

The edge pieces you want to find are Red/Green, Green/Orange, Orange/Blue, and Blue/Red. Once you have found any of those in a top layer edge position, you must turn the top layer until the color on the side of that edge piece (such as blue in the blue/red edge piece) is matched with its center. (i = the inverse move or counter-clockwise a quarter turn) Official/Standard Notation: FUR Ui Ri Fi *IMPORTANT* If you DO NOT see one of the patterns above here, meaning you may only see two pieces together, or a small T instead of a full cross, YOU MUST do this.
